GALLERY + REVIEW - RAUW ALEJANDRO

Live at the Honda Center, Anaheim, California.

One of Latin Music’s biggest stars, Rauw Alejandro, arrived in Anaheim, California to present his Cosa Nuestra Tour on Thursday night. Based off his most recent album Cosa Nuestra, Rauw brings the album to life along with some of his past hits such as “ Todo de Ti” and “ 2/Catorce”.

As I arrived to the arena, I was astonished to see men and women dressed very formal, with a 60’s theme to it. Considering the show is based off the 60’s New York night culture, I was very excited to see how engaging the fans were to the concept. Upon entering the arena, I heard in the distance a Frank Sinatra song playing, which was very different to what is often played pre-concert. A humongous curtain covered the stage, reminiscent of something you would more than likely see at a play. To the side of the stage were two large screens, displaying a Playbill with a QR code prompting and immersive experience while fans wait excitedly for the concert.

Warm lights dimmed the crowd, setting the tone of what was to come later in the evening. As the arena filled, a presenter came out to announce that we were closer to show time. Engaging with the crowd, asking them to cheer if they were ready for Rauw, the energy was immaculate.

As the lights turned off, the crowed erupted. A short video was presented on the screens showcasing the introduction to Rauw’s show, showing a car chase that leads to the introduction of the concert. Rauw starts off with PUNTO 40, a song from his previous album SATURNO. Pyrotechnics went off during the song syncing perfectly with the music. Dancers were alongside him, performing an amazing choreography.

Later on during the concert, we start to see a love story unfold, going along with his setlist. As an avid fan of his music, adding a storyline along the setlist brings out what the music means in a way that I could not have imagined. He later performed hits such as La Old Skul, which made the crowd pop.

Overall, Rauw Alejandro and his team did not disappoint at all. The concert was more than just a music performance, but a theatrical performance. Having a storyline alongside performing songs was a step forward in his music career, that will only benefit him as an artists showcasing a true love for the art. I really enjoyed the show as much as the others did, considering they were singing along word for word every song. I would highly recommend any fan of music to check out Rauw’s tour. It will not disappoint and it will definitely make you a fan if you weren’t already.
