On July 11th 2026, MLS Side LA Galaxy took on Liga MX’s America in a club friendly at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA. In front of a crowd of 18,812, Joseph Paintsil scored the match's lone goal in the 26th minute, finishing from close range after Jakob Glesnes headed Marco Reus' free kick into the six-yard box. The Galaxy controlled the lead from there, producing a disciplined defensive performance to secure a clean sheet against one of Liga MX's most successful clubs. This club friendly was scheduled as a warmup for both sides during the international break for their respective club seasons due to the ongoing World Cup. This was the perfect warmup match for the LA Galaxy as they look to achieve a playoff spot for the 2026 MLS Season. LA Galaxy return to action on July 17th to face off against their local rivals, LAFC in “El Traffico”.
